It was good display by the entire team—Magogo lauds Uganda Cranes despite defeat

Moses Magogo

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Eng. Moses Magogo has lauded the Uganda Cranes despite their defeat against hosts Egypt.

Uganda lost by 2-0 in their final game of Group A at the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday evening in front of a mammoth crowd at the Cairo International Stadium.

“It was good display by the entire team,” Magogo said.

In Sunday’s game, the best team lost as Mohamed Salah and Pharaohs skipper Ahmed Elmohamady struck to win maximum points for the hosts.

Despite the result, the Cranes still made it to the last 16 thanks to their 2-0 win against DR Congo in the opener and a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe as they finished second in Group A.

“We have moved to the nest stage and Ugandan football will change for the better. The qualification is a result of efforts from different stakeholders Government, sponsors, the Uganda Cranes technical staff, players, all organs of FUFA, media and the wonderful fans.”

“Let us enjoy the moment. Congratulations Uganda Cranes,” he added, congratulating the team upon reaching the knock out stage of the tournament.

Uganda now wait to know who they will face off in the last 16 but walk in the path to either face Kenya or Senegal.
