Real Madrid have completed the signing for left-back Ferland Mendy from Lyon for £47.1m, bringing their summer spending close to £300m.
The 24-year-old Frenchman and former Paris Saint Germain youngster joined Lyon from Le Havre in 2017 and made 79 appearances for the Ligue 1 side over the course of two seasons. He signed a six-year deal at the Santiago Bernabeu.
On Wednesday, Madrid who have already signed Belgium star Eden Hazard from Chelsea for £88m unveiled their new Serbian striker Luka Jovic.
Jovic joined the Whites from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported £53m while Hazard’s deal is expected to rise up to a whopping £124m after add-ons.
In March, Madrid signed Porto defender Eder Militao for £42.7m while their June 2018 summer signing Rodrygo will also join the club in July.
They signed the 18-year-old Brazilian striker from Santos for £40m.
Zinedine Zidane’s side will however have to sell some players to balance the books if they are to comply with the UEFA financial fair play rules.
