SC Villa unveils 13 new players to battle relegation danger

StarTimes Uganda Premier League record champions Sports Club Villa have today (Thursday) afternoon unveiled 13 new players to battle their relegation danger in the second half of the 2018/2019 campaign.

After the opening half of the season, the 16-time league winners find themselves just a place and two points above relegation (13th with 14 points). The new acquisitions come as a huge boost for the club in their battle to avoid a drop into the FUFA Big League.

While speaking at the unveiling ceremony at Villa Park, Jogoos head coach Douglas Bamweyana promised to do everything in his power alongside the players to restore SC Villa’s continuously declining dignity.

“We are ready to do everything in our power so that we bring the Club’s dignity back. We want you to be with us as we promise to do the best for the mighty club,” Bamweyana noted.

After shipping in 18 goals in 15 games, the Jogoos were keen to find a custodian to stand between their sticks and goalkeeper Saidi Keni has been signed from Proline FC while defenders Asuman Alishe and John Adriko also join the Blue camp.

Meanwhile, Villa have had some departures including Savio Kabugo, Brian Bwete, Manco Kawesa, Shafick Bakaki, and Edgar Luzige among others.
