Arsenal have unveiled Denis Suarez after signing the Spaniard on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season.
“Denis Suarez swapped Barcelona for north London on Thursday as he became our first loan signing of the January window,” the club announced on their website.
La-Liga champions Barca announced the deal and Suarez’s contract extension until 2021 on Wednesday before deleting the statement from their website in what they termed as a “technical error”, but Arsenal removed any doubt surrounding the switch on deadline day.
The move sees the attaching midfielder link up once again with former boss Unai Emery, whom he worked with during the 2014-15 season on loan at Sevilla in a deal that saw Barcelona sign Ivan Rakitic.
Arsenal will pay Barca £2m in loan for the player. The Gunners will also pay Suarez’s salary throughout his time at Emirates Stadium and with an option to buy him for £18m, even though Barca have extended the 25-year-old’s deal by 12 months.
