A first half brace from Johnson Odong gave Police Football Club the halftime advantage as they left it late against Kirinya Jinja SSS FC on Sunday evening in StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Odong netted as early as the fifth minute to give Abdullah Mubiru’s men the advantage at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo. With seven minutes off the half-hour mark, Odong was on target again to double the Cops’ lead, giving them a 2-0 advantage by halftime.
The halftime break gave coach Charles Ayiekoh the much needed time for a pep-talk to his team and it proved its worth when the visit fought their way back to level the scores in the second stanza.
Sewava Dan began Kirinya’s resurgence as he scored to put the visitors back into the game in 66th while Muwawu Faizal netted to level matters just eight minutes later.
The game looked destined for a 2-2 draw but Ashraf Mugume had other ideas as scored an 86th minute goal for Police as they left it late to end 2018 on a high note.
The victory elevated Police FC to 6th place on the 16-team UPL table with 20 points from 13 games while Kirinya are 9th with 18 points from a similar number of games.
