On Friday evening at the StarTimes Stadium Lugogo, home side Police FC caged Mbarara City FC with a 3-1 thumping as the StarTimes Uganda Premier League entered match day 9.
The Cops were the better side from the onset and their efforts paid off in the 19th minute when Pius Kaggwa scored to put them in the lead.
Further efforts from coach Abdullah Mubiru’s men saw them stretch the lead to 2-0 with a goal from Juma Balinya.
Halftime recess proved to be a much needed time for the Ankole Lions who seemed to get everything wrong and a word from head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi seemed purposeful when Ibrahim Oriti pulled one back for the visitors 67th minute to make it 2-1.
However, Police put a stop to Mbrarara’s efforts of salvaging a point from the game as Juma Balinya hammered the last nail in their coffin with just four minutes to full time, marking his brace on the evening.
Despite his brace, it was Hassan Kalega that was voted as the Pilsner Man of the Match, pocketing UGX 100,000.
The Result saw Mbarara City remain static in third place with 16 points while Police climbed up to 7th place with 14 points.
