Express FC - UPL - Freekick442

Match day 7 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League continued on Wednesday with four games on card.

At the Luzira Prisons Grounds, home side Maroons Football Club registered their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over the travellers of Onduparaka Football Club.

Solomon Walusimbi struck first in the 27th minute to give George ‘Best’ Nsimbe and David Obua’s side the lead that they held onto until halftime despite attempts from Onduparaka for an equalizer.

In the second half, Rashid Agau struck just six minutes after the one hour mark to punish his former employers as Maroons stretched their lead to 2-0.

With just three minutes to wind up the clock, the Caterpillar’s skipper Rashid Toha pulled one back for the visitors but it only turned out to be a consolation as Maroons beat their former gaffer Asaph Mwebaze on his first return to Luzira.

Elsewhere, Paidha Black Angels FC continued to struggle at home as they were condemned to a 2-0 defeated by the Ankole Lions of Mbarara City FC.

Two second half goals from Karim Ndugwa and Stephen Kabuye in the 57th and 72nd minutes respectively were enough to secure maximum points for coach Livingstone Mbabazi’s men.

Meanwhile, back to Kampala, Vipers had to live it late at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku as they shared the spoils with home side Express FC in a one-all draw.

Tony Odur scored from the penalty spot in the 31st minute to punish his former bosses as he put a highly motivated Red Eagles into the lead.

About four minutes later, striker Dan Sserunkuma missed the opportunity to level matters for the visitors and a chance to extend his personal tally to four goals when he failed to convert from the penalty. In the due course of the game, Express had another penalty appeal waved off when Ibrahim Kayiwa was brought down in the forbidden area while Tito Okello’s controversial late equalizer in the 83rd minute ensured that all matters were square by full time.

Okello was clearly in an offside position when he scored the leveler but an appeal from the Express goalie and his fellow players as well as the fans fellow on deaf ears for the match officials.
