Red Eagles fly too high for Tooro United to catch as Mbarara City hold KCCA FC

Eric Kambale

Coach Wasswa Bbosa was treated to an unpleasant welcome on his return to Muteesa II Stadium at Wankulukuku as his side, Tooro United Football Club condemned to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Express Football Club.

Two first half goals from Eric Kambale and Ibrahim Kayiwa in the 3rd and 31st minutes respectively were enough to secure victory for the Red Eagles, who flew too high for Tooro United to catch.

The game saw no more goals past the half hour mark despite continued efforts from either side, giving Kefa Kisala’s side maximum points that sent them to 6th place on the 16-team log with 8 points after 5 games in the 2018/19 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.

Meanwhile, Tooro United FC dropped to 12th place on the table with just 4 points from a similar number of games.

Away to the StarTimes Stadium at Lugogo, home side KCCA Football Club were held to a goalless draw by the Ankole Lions of Mbarara City FC in a game that saw the Yellow and Blue lads finish with 10 men after Hassan Jurua sent off in stoppage time after two bookings.

The result leaves the Kasasiro Boys in second place on 11 points from 5games, and two points behind leaders Vipers SC, who they visit on Saturday in an epic clash on Match Day 6.

Mbarara dropped to 8th place with 7 points.
