It’s five-horse race for the Premier League title, says Guardiola

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola thinks that after just nine games, it’s a five-horse race for the Premier League title.

Reigning champions Man City are at the summit of the table with 23 points and still unbeaten as well as asecond placed Liverpool while Chelsea, also still unbeaten are tied at 21 points along with Arsenal and Tottenham in third, fourth and fifth respectively, only two behind the leaders.

Guardiola’s side travels to Wembley Stadium on Monday night to face off with Tottenham, just a day after the Jacksonville Jaguars battle it out with the Philadelphia Eagles at the same venue.

Asked if it was a five-horse race for the title during his press conference, Guardiola said:

“I don’t have any doubt about that. There are only two points difference between five or six teams. It’s strong. Tottenham are always there.”

“Last season we did really well in both games, but they are a top team,” he added.

He however hopes that his side will adapt easily to the condition of the pitch in the aftermath of that NFL game.

“I am sure Tottenham have a good green keeper [groundsman]. Hopefully they can finish their stadium as quickly as possible, but it is what it is. It is not necessary to complain.”
