Little by little, it’s seemingly becoming a norm for football clubs in the Pearl of Africa to change names.
Previously, clubs like Vipers Sports Club, UPDF FC changed names from Bunamwaya FC and The Saints FC respectively.
Now in current events, Uganda Premier League side Soana Football Club and FUFA Big League outfit Kamuli Park have changed names.
Soana FC have been renamed to Tooro United FC and also shifted their home ground from Kavumba Recreation Grounds in Wakiso to Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal.
On the other hand, Kamuli Park, also initially known as Artland Katale FC before its takeover about two years ago has been renamed to Wakiso Giants and will host their home games in Wakiso.
Elsewhere, Masavu FC who were relegated from the top tier last season have also been christened Entebbe Football Club and in the FUFA Women’s Elite league, newly-promoted Saviours FC will be known as Lang’o Queens and will play from Lira.
