COSAFA Women Championship: Crested Cranes pass first test in a 7-goal thriller

Uganda’s Women National football team, the Crested Cranes passed their first test in a 7-goal thriller at the 2018 COSAFA Women Championship in South Africa.

Uganda beat King Mswati’s ladies of Swaziland 4-3 as they picked their first victory of the tournament in Group C opening fixture at Isaac Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

A brace from Hasifa Nassuuna, who missed the recent CECAFA Women Championship in Rwanda in the first and second half respectively, another from skipper Norah Alupo and Resty Nanziri were enough to secure victory for the Faridah Bulega-coached side.

Despite, a 3-0 lead at halftime, Uganda had a scare in the second half when Swaziland pulled two strikes back through Celiwe Thandazile Nkambule, Tenanile Sandiswa Mgcamphalala before Uganda extended their lead to 4-2.

Later on Cebile Shongwe struck for Swaziland to make it 4-3.

Hasaf Nassuuna was voted Lady of the match for brilliant display on the afternoon.
