Courtois’ move is subject to him agreeing to personal terms and completing a medical with the Champions League winners before being unveiled.

It’s expected that the 26-year-old will sign a six-year contract with the Whites. The Belgian joined the Blues in 2011 from Genk before being loaned out to Atletico Madrid where he played until 2014.

He then returned to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea’s number one during Jose Mourinho’s days and has since won two Premier League titles with the club.

Courtois, who was part of Belgium’s World Cup team that finished third before being voted as the best goalkeeper of the competition missed the Blues’ training sessions on Monday and Tuesday at Cohbam training ground.

At Stamford Bridge, he will be replaced by Kepa Arrizabalaga, who joins for a whopping £71m.

Meanwhile, Kovacic, who was also part of Croatia’s world cup squad that lost by 4-2 in the finals to eventual champions France joins Maurizio Sarri’s side on a season-long loan.
