LeBron James officially Joins LA Lakers

Three-time NBA champion LeBron James has officially joined LA Lakers on a four-year deal worth $154m.

The 33-year-old was a free agent after leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron won the NBA with the Cavaliers and Miami Heat. He now joins a side that hasn’t made it the playoffs in the last five years (since 2013).

“This is a historic moment. It serves as the ultimate validation for what we are building here,” said Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka.

Former NBA player and now President of basketball operations Johnson referred to LeBron as the “best player in the world”.

“It’s a huge step closer to returning the Lakers to the playoffs and to the NBA Finals,” he added.
