According to Sky Sports, "Chelsea have opened talks with Inter Milan" about the signing of 26-year-old Uruguay midfielder Matias Vecino.
They have also offered Juventus £35.5m for 24-year-old Italy defender Mattia Caldara as they continue with attempts to strengthen their squad depth ahead of the new season that kicks off in less than a fortnight.
The Blues are also considering a £30m bid for Arsenal's Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The 27-year-old midfielder is yet to sign a new contract with the North London club. His current contract with the Gunners has 12 months left to it and talks to sign a new deal continue to stall.
Nonetheless, new head coach Unai Emery insists that he wants the player as he is a key member to his squad. Arsenal their new campaign when they host champions Manchester City on Sunday 12th August
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has made Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski his main transfer target. However, Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac insists that the 29-year-old will not be leaving this summer despite expressing interest of wanting to play elsewhere.
The five-time Premier League winners have so far signed midfielder Jorginho from Napoli and 38-year-old England goalkeeper Robert Green on a one-year deal.
