Barcelona have agreed a deal to sign Brazilian midfielder Paulinho from Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande for £36.4m (40m Euros).
The 29-year-old former Tottenham midfielder is expected to fly to Spain on Thursday for a medical to complete the move.
He joined Spurs in 2013 from Corinthians in a deal worth £17m before moving to China two years later.
While in China, he was part of Evergrande’s title (Chinese Super League) winning squad last season and will leave the side five points clear at the top in the current campaign.
Paulinho will be Barcelona’s first signing since the sale of Neymar Santos Junior to Paris St-Germain for a record 222m Euros.
The Spanish giants have also made bids for Liverpool sensational Philippe Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund’s French youngster Ousmane Dembele, who has since been suspended indefinitely for miss training while Coutinho handed in a transfer request to the Reds.
