By the end of Saturday15th 2018, Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) had been pronounced winners of the third edition of the Phillip Omondi Invitational Cup pre-season tournament.
Earlier on the same day, the Kasasiro boys beat newly promoted Uganda Premier League side Nyamityobora Football by 2-1 to mark two wins in two games.
Two first-half goals from summer recruit Allan Kyambadde and Anaku Sadat in the 25th and 34th minutes respectively were enough to secure victory for the Mike Mutebi-coach side while Joseph Akwandanaho picked the consolation for the Western side in the 75th minute.
The victory put KCCA on ten points and top of the four-team tournament log.
In the other game, Wakiso Giants/Kamili Park beat the defending champions of Proline by 1-0. Daff Lubobi scored the only goal of the game as Wakiso Giants finished third of the table while Proline were second with Nyamityobora at the bottom.
A victory earned one three points, a draw was equivalent to one point as well as each goal scored.
Tournament winners KCCA retained their UG. 1million shillings in cash prizes while Uganda Cranes defender and team captain Timothy Awanyi was voted as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament to 200,000 shillings.
