On Tuesday evening, 12-time league champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) confirmed the departure of club Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Josephine Namusaka.
The development followed days of speculation in corners of the sports fraternity. According to a statement released by the Lugogo based camp, Namukasa resigned from her position at the club almost a week ago.
“The Board of Directors of KCCA FC at its monthly meeting held on September-06-2018 received and accepted the resignation of Ms. Josephine Namukasa as acting CEO of KCCA FC,” reads part of the statement.
Reasons for Namukasa’s resignation, who was named as acting CEO in June 2017 may remain a mystery for some time but sources close to the Kasakiro Boys intimate to www.freekick442.com that the club’s transfer policy could be one of the main reasons as to why she decided to step down.
Sources also allege that Namukasa “was not happy with the way Mohammad Shaban’s recent transfer to Moroccan side Raja Casablanca was handled.”
To keep things running smoothly at the StarTimes Stadium, the club has appointed Anisha Muhoozi as the new CEO.
“In order to ensure continuity of the club’s operations, the Board of Directors of KCCA FC in exercise of its mandate has appointed Ms. Anisha Shahir Muhoozi as its acting CEO effective September-10-2018, continued the statement.
“Mr. Moses Kaddu will serve as Acting manager for operations and administration,” the statement clarifies.
“We thank Ms. Namukasa for her gallant leadership and we are grateful for her tireless contributions to the club.”
The changes come just days away from the club’s annual Phillip Omondi Invitational Cup pre-season tournament that is played in honor of club legend and former Uganda Cranes crafty winger Phillip Omondi.
Wakiso Giants/Kamuli Park, Nyamityobora FC, two-time and reigning champions of Proline FC are the three sides invited for this year’s edition that is slated for Friday 14th and Saturday 15th this week.
