New Uganda Premier League sponsors and giant pay TV StarTimes will air games from only three venues according to the company’s Vice president and seasoned sports journalist Aldrine Nsubuga.
Nsubuga made the revelation during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in Kampala.
He told the well-attended press conference that they will use KCCA FC’s StarTimes Stadium Lugogo, Vipers’ St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende and Namboole stadium.
"We value all the teams but StarTimes has minimum standards," Nsubuga said.
"Only Mandela stadium, StarTimes Stadium and Kitende met the minimum standards at the time we signed with FUFA. We are broadcasting to an international audience and therefore we must have minimum standards," he added.
It’s on that note therefore that Nsubuga advised others clubs to improve their home grounds to meet the required standards.
"If other venues are upgraded to the set standards, we shall assess them and add them in the list. We understand the challenge of infrastructure in the country but we are doing business that has its demands."
