The eagerly and long awaited 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League kick off has been set for late September.
According to the Uganda Premier League Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bernard Bainamani; “the league will kick off on September 28th 2018 even when the fixtures are yet to be released.” Bainamani made the remarks during a press conference at Namboole Stadium in Kampala.
He also added that all teams will be expected to be in action the opening day of the season unless something changes between now and then.
Bainamani also labored to explain the delay in the release of the fixtures saying that it has "largely been attributed to the different teams' failure to get licensed by the federation as required for a club to take part in the top tier league."
But with “99% of the process done” the fixtures will soon be released.
He also revealed the FUFA Super Cup tie between UPL champions Vipers SC and Uganda Cup winners KCCA Football Club will be played on Saturday 22nd 2018 with the venue for the game to be communicated later.
