Onduparaka pip Villa to reach FUFA Super 8 finals

Arua based Uganda Premier League Outfit Onduparaka Football Club pipped Sports Club Villa 5-4 on penalties to reach the finals of the Pilsner Super 8 tournament.

In a game played at the Greenlight Stadium in Arua, the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw in normal time that prompted a shootout.

After 35 fives of play, Livin Kabon broke the deadlock with a brilliant header off Gadaffi Wahaba’s freekick to give the Asaph Mwebaze-coached side a lead.

With just five minutes to full, the Caterpillars succumbed to pressure as Uganda Cranes defender and new recruit Savio Kabugo leveled matters for the Jogoos.

The central defender later stepped forward to inspire the Blue boys as he converted the first spot kick, followed by skipper Ambrose Kirya and then former KCCA FC defender and new acquisition Habib Kavuma.

Kenneth Sebutinde fell short from 12 yard and former Villa goalkeeper Nicholas Sebwato stepped up to save the spot kick while Rashid Toha, Bida, Sebwato, Amis Muwonge and former KCCA skipper Denis Okot converted all their efforts.

Onduparaka will now battle it out with the 2018 Uganda Cup champions KCCA Football Club in the final.
