Hosts Rwanda Hold Uganda In CECAFA Women Challenge Cup

For Uganda, it was quite painful as hosts Rwanda held the Crested Cranes to a two-all draw in the CECAFA Women Challenge Cup.

In a game played on Wednesday afternoon at Stade de Kigali, Nyamirambo, the two sides settled for a goalless draw in the opening 45 minutes before Lillian Mutuuzo opened the scoring for the Pear of Africa ladies in the 54th minute.

The Cranes however failed to defend their lead as Ibangarye Anne Marie scored in the 65th minute to level matters for the home side. With a title at stake for the Crested Cranes, they had to give it their all and their efforts paid off as Alupo Norah netted in the 75th minute to restore the lead, making it 2-1 in the process.

However, coach Faridah Bulega’s girls succumbed to pressure in the dying minutes of the game as Mukeshimana Jeanette scored to make it 2-2 in the 87th minutes.
