Uganda will host the 2018 Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) U-20 tournament.
The development was confirmed by CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye at a press conference held in Tanzania where the CECAFA Kagame Cup clubs’ competition is being played following an endorsement from the region's football governing body.
“As CECAFA, we have got a revised calendar to help cater for regional tournaments. So we will have the Under 20 and CECACA beach soccer tournaments held in Uganda in September and August respectively” Musonye, as quoted by Florsport remarked.
The championship is part of the FIFA Forward programmes, subsequent to the May U-17 tournament that was played in Burundi this year.
He also added that the women Challenge cup and the beach soccer events will also take place.
The 2018 CECAFA Beach soccer championship was slated for May and June but construction delays of the FUFA Beach soccer facility in Entebbe had the event postponed.
Meanwhile, for second year running, Kenya will host the 2018 CECAFA Senior challenge cup that is due late November.
