One of Uganda’s telecommunications giants, Airtel Uganda Limited will be the official sponsors the FUFA Junior League.
The deal was unveiled on Tuesday, 19th June 2018 at the finals of the third edition of the Junior League that were played at the Star Times Stadium, Lugogo.
Airtel Uganda, the official sponsors of the national football team, the Uganda Cranes announced $15,000US (approximately Shs 56,260,000M) in sponsorship fees for the league next season.
Federation of Uganda Football Associations’ third president Darius Mugoye, in the accompaniment of Chrispus Kalibala received the dummy cheque from Airtel Brand and Strategy manager Noela Byuma.
“We are glad to be partners for the FUFA Juniors league for the next season. This is the commitment that we have for the development of Uganda’s football,” Byuma remarked as quoted by Airtel football
The telecommunications giants continue to partner and sponsor football in the country. Besides being the lead Uganda Cranes sponsors, Airtel also sponsors second-tier football (the FUFA Big League), Airtel Buganda Masaza Cup and Airtel Rising Stars (U17 national youth programme).
On Tuesday, Vipers SC Junior side edged the young Caterpillars of Onduparaka FC by 1-0 to win the 2017/2018 edition of the competition while Soana Juniors Team won the 2016/17 after pipping KCCA’s junior side by 5-4 on post-match penalties that followed a goalless draw in normal time.
