Vipers Fall against URA, Express continue to struggle as Onduparaka return to winning ways

Off the back of 2-0 victory over Kirinya Jinja SSS FC, two-time league champions Vipers Sports Club couldn’t gain their momentum as they fell against URA Football Club in a 2-1 loss at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

The venoms were off to a quick start, giving their home crowd the ultimate joy as Milton Karisa scored to put them in the lead after just five minutes into the game. A few minutes to half time, Henry Kiseka netted to level matter for the Tax Collectors, ending it 1-1 by recess.

Just two minutes in the second half, Shafik Kagimu scored the second to put URA FC in the lead that eventually turned out to be the match winner, relieving coach Ibrahim Kirya of some pressure.

The result leaves URA in 6th place with 19 points, just one behind Vipers SC in fifth place.

Elsewhere, just days after losing to arch rivals SC Villa by 1-0 in Masaka, Express Football Club continued to struggle as they lost by a similar margin on match day 13 to Soana Football Club in Kavumba, Wakiso.

Willy Kavuma scored the only goal of the game in the opening minute to inflict more misery on Shafik Bisaso’s Red Eagles who remain the relegation zone of the Azam Uganda Premier League table with just 11 points from 13 games.

Away to Arua, home side Onduparaka FC returned to winning ways with 2-1 victory over Steven Bogere’s UPDF Football Club.

Bida Ezra and Karim Ndugwa were on target for the caterpillars, who are now 4th with 22 points while the army side remain bottom of the table with just 6 points.
