Police Football Club arrested Express Football Club in a 1-0 victory as they returned to winning ways during their trip to Muteesa II Memorial Stadium in Wankulukuku on Tuesday evening.
Following a barren first half, a 53rd minute strike from Hood Kaweesa was enough to secure maximum points for the Abdallah Mubiru-coached side.
The result saw newly appointed Red Eagles head coach Shafik Bisaso registered a loss in his first game in charge of the Wankulukuku based side.
The victory ensured that the Cops maintain their grip on the league summit with 23 points from 12 games while Express FC are in the relegation zone with just 11 points from 11 games.
Away to Masaka recreation grounds, home side and 16-time league record champions Sports Club Villa pipped visitors Onduparaka Football Club by 1-0.
The game was goalless in the opening 45 minutes but extra effort from the Jogoos in the second half saw them get a lead in the 67th minute through striker George Senkaaba which eventually turned out to be the match winner on the day.
Immediately after recess, Villa’s head coach Wasswa Bbosa made changes withdrawing Nicholas Kasozi for Martin Kizza.
The win leaves Villa third on the league table level on 22 points as a second-placed KCCA FC who have a better goal difference while the Caterpillars are fourth with 19 points after 12 games.
