The highly anticipated tie between local rivals Kampala Capital City Authority FC and Vipers Sports Club at the StarTimes stadium in Lugogo on Tuesday evening did not disappoint.
League reigning champions KCCA FC trounced their visitors by 3-1 to pile more pressure on Vipers head coach Jorge Miguel Da Costa as his side remains winless in three encounters.
Sensational striker Muhammad Shaban opened the scoring on the evening in front of a sizeable crowd at Lugogo with a goal in the 7th minute to put the Kasasiro Boys in the lead.
However, the joy of the advantage was short-lived as Yayo Lutimba levelled matters for the Venoms just five minutes later.
In the 19th minute, Shaban netted his second on the day to extend his personal tally to 6 league goals in just three fixtures with the Yellow boys. The home side had the halftime advantage at 2-1.
The visitors dominated play with an average of 52% in ball possession but their inefficiency in front of goal did not help despite their efforts, with KCCA goalie Charles Lukwago being forced into a few saves.
In stoppage time, forward Derrick Nsibambi hammered the last nail in the coffin as Vipers fell against their rivals in a 3-1 defeat.
The result leaves Vipers without a win in three games, two 1-1 draws against UPDF FC and Maroons plus a loss to KCCA with their last victory being 1-0 win over URA FC before the international break.
The victory leaves KCCA second on the 16-team log with 22 points from 11games while Vipers dropped to sixth place with just 17 points from a similar number of games.
