Bright Stars edge Onduparaka to go joint top as Villa pip Bul in Jinja

Kawempe based side Bright Stars Football Club who host their homes from the Champion Stadium in Mwererwe, Entebbe edged travellers of Onduparaka Football Club by 2-1 to Tuesday evening.

Team skipper Nelson Senkatuka led by example scoring in the 27th minute to give the home side the advantage by halftime, extending his personal tally to 5 league goals.

In the second half, Moses Okot netted an 80th minute strike to double the lead for the Fred Kajoba-coached side while Aggrey Kirya was off the mark in the stoppage time to pick the consolation for the Caterpillars.

The result saw Bright Stars move joint top on the Azam Uganda Premier League table with 17 points from 10 games , equivalent to leaders Police FC, who have a better goal difference but on the same day lost by 2-0 to reigning champions KCCA FC with Mohammad Shaban and Allan Kateregga on target for the Kasasiro Boys.

Elsewhere, Sports Club Villa managed to pip Bul Football Club in a 1-0 victory during their tip to Jinja at the Kakindu Stadium.

The victory extended Villa’s tally to 16 points after 9 games in 5th place on the table while the Eastern Giants are on 9 points after 10 games.
