Police settle for a draw against stubborn Maroons as Mbarara & Onduparaka fire blanks

As we head off into the international break, Match Day 9 in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) got underway on Tuesday evening after a very heavy downpour across the capital Kampala in the morning hours.

At Namboole Stadium, League leaders Police Football Club settled for 2-2 draw against a stubborn Maroons Football Club.

The visitors opened the scoring through Pius Obuya who broke the deadlock at just 24 minutes into the game. Seven minutes later, Solomon Walusimbi scored to double and consolidate Maroons’ lead.

Moments later, with three minutes to recess, Yasin Mugume pulled one back to make 2-1 at halftime in favour of the Prisons’ side.

Five minutes into the second half, Ben Ocen converted a penalty to level matters for the Cops. The result saw Police FC maintain their top spot on the league table with 17 points from 9 games while Maroons FC while Maroons are 7th with 13 points from a similar number of points.

Elsewhere, Onduparaka FC and league debutants Mbarara City FC fired blanks in a goalless draw during a game played at the Bet Way Green Light Stadium in Arua.

Despite the draw, the Caterpillars moved into second place with 16 points while the Ankole Lions are 12th with 10 points, all after nine games.
