Bright Stars stun URA and Maroons upset Masavu

Kawempe base side Bright Stars Football Club, who host their home games at the Champion Stadium in Mwererwe, Entebbe on Tuesday evening stunned four-time league champions Uganda Revenue Authority FC by 1-0 in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).

Team captain Nelson Senkatuka inspired the Fred Kajoba-coached side with a 43rd-minute goal that eventually turned out to the match winner against the Tax Collectors who came into the game on the back of a 4-0 victory over Bul FC just a week ago.

The result saw the Lato-Milk Sponsored side clinch their second victory of the season, elevating them to 6th place with 10 points on the table while URA FC are 10th with 8 points.

Away to the Fisheries Institute in Entebbe, home side Masavu Football club were upset by visitors Maroons Football Club in another 1-0 score line on the day.

With just ten minutes left on the clock, Solomon Walusimbi scored for the Prisons’ side to hand them maximum points.

The defeat keeps Masavu at the bottom of the 16-team with only 4 points from 7 games while Maroons moved to 9th place with 9 points.

Elsewhere, Soana FC and league debutants Mbarara FC played to a goalless draw at Kavumba Recreation Stadium in Wakiso.

The league continues on Wednesday as a fifth-placed Police FC host Kirinya Jinja SSS FC who are in third spot on the table.
