Sserunkuma on target as Express pip URA–Uganda Premier League

Veteran striker ‘Mzee’ Dan Sserunkuma was on target as Express Football Club pipped Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club with a 1-0 defeat in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).

On a Tuesday evening, the Tax Collectors were forced into an early substitution as sensational midfielder Said Kyeyune limped off the pitch, paving way for Shafik Kagimu.

At the stroke of halftime, the Red Eagles won a free kick that was floated in by Suliamon Jjingo to find Bernard Agele, who headed the ball across goal.

Mubaraka Nsubuga fired a low shot off the ball before it was deflected into Sserunkuma’s path and the strike had no choice but to simply tap home from close range.

In the second half, the visitors put their hosts on the front foot with Henry Kisekka hitting the crossbar while other efforts also remained fruitless.

The victory elevates Express FC from 11th place to 4th on the 16-team log with 7 points from five matches while URA FC slipped to 10th with 5 points.

The league continues on Friday this week and Saturday.
