On a rainy Tuesday evening, defending champions Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) thrashed Onduparaka Football Club by 4-1 to register the biggest win of the season as they moved top of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) table.
After a highly contested opening half-hour to the game, striker Derrick opened the scoring to give the hosts a lead in the 32nd-minute after a miscommunication between Onduparaka defender and goalie Nicholas Sebwato on a back-pass.
On the other hand, Benjamin Ochan was at the top of his game, fending off efforts from Alfred Leku on two occasions to keep KCCA in the lead.
In the second half, Mohammed Rashid scored in the back of his own net off midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba’s attempt to make it 2-0 before substitute Jackson Nunda made it 3-0. Nunda and Paul Mucureezi had come on, replacing Allan Okello and Julius Poloto while Derrick Nsibambi paved way for Tito Okello.
Moments later, Tito Okello got his name on the score sheet, putting it to 4-0 while Mohammed Rashid’s late strike was just a consolation.
The result elevated KCCA from 10th to the top of the 16 team log while Onduparaka dropped to 9th place with 4 points and a negative one goal difference.
