On Saturday, 9th September 2017, Sports Club Villa named their squad for the 2017/2018 season in front of a sizeable number of ardent fans at their training base, Villa Park in Nsambya.
Despite his illnesses, club president Eng. Emmanuel Ben Misagga attended the ceremony which was presided over by the Jogoos’ newly appointed club patron Gerald Wasswa Kasozi.
It was during this ceremony that the club officially unveiled their new recruits, ten of them in number while the legendary Paul Mukatabala was presented as the assistant coach for lead gaffer Wasswa Bbosa and Phillip Ssozi for the U17 side who play in the FUFA Junior League.
The Blues also used the same platform to launch the club’s new automated membership cards and seasonal tickets that will be used this year.
Villa will host their home games from Masaka Recreation Grounds. The team will be captained by Uganda Cranes defender Bernard Muwanga, who takes over from the departed Tadeo Lwanga (joined Vipers SC). Henry Katongole will be his first assistant while Abel Eturude will be third in command.
The new recruits, who excluded Dennis Iguma due to unconcluded paperwork regarding his transfer include Abdullah Salim (Graduate from the U17s), Mukasa Musa, Allan Kyambadde, Mahad Yaya Kakooza and Simon Sserunkuuma, all signed from arch rivals Express FC.
The others are George Ssenkaaba from Kirinya Jinja SSS, Nicholas Kasozi from Synergy FC, Isa Lumu from City Yangon FC in Myanmar, Mike Majwega from Simba FC and Sanon Mulabi from Agape.
