Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) have been crowned champions of the 2017 Uganda Cup after edging FUFA Big League sidePhaida Black Angels FC by 2-0 a final played at Bet Way Green Light Stadium in Arua.
Usual suspect Geoffrey Sserunkuma broke the deadlock just ten minutes into the opening 45 minutes with a stunning strike off Muzamiru Mutyaba’s assist to give the Kasasiro Boys a lead.
Efforts from either side remained fruitless for the subsequent minutes of the first half not until in the second stanza when on-form striker Derrick Nsibambi netted in the 57th minute to double the yellow boys’ lead.
At the blow of the final whistle, the Azam Uganda Premier League reigning champions ran into celebration as winners of the 43rd edition of the Uganda Cup.
Coach Mike Ray Mutebi has clinched his first double as manager to become the sixth coach to reach the milestone after Polly Ouma at SC Villa in 1986, Geoff Hudson at Villa 1988 & 1989, Jimmy Muguwa with Express FC in 1995, Paul Hasule with SC Villa 1998 & 2000 plus Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic 2002.
The game was graced with the presence of Kampala City Lord Mayor Eris Lukwago, Executive Director Jennifer Musisi among other dignitaries.
