Coach Micho summons 44-man Squad for South Sudan tie

Uganda Cranes coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has summoned a provisional squad of 44 local based players ahead of a tie with South Sudan in the Nations for African Championship (CHAN).

With the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) having climaxed, the players are slated to kick off preparations on Wednesday 24th May ahead of the international fixtures.

South Sudan will host Uganda in the first leg clash on 14th July 2017 with the reverse fixture slated for a week later in Kampala.

The aggregate winner after both legs will then advance to take on either Rwanda or Tanzania in the fight for a slot in the 2018 Total CHAN finals that will be hosted in Kenya.

Uganda has participated in at least three of the four different CHAN final editions. The Pearl of Africa missed the inaugural tournament in 2009 but went on to feature in the Sudan edition in 2011, South Africa in 2014 and last year in Rwanda 2016.
