Busoga region giants Jinja Senior Secondary School edged eight-time champions St. Mary’s Kitende 4-2 on penalties to win their maiden Copa Coca-Cola Schools Championship.
The post-match penalties followed a one-all draw in normal time during an epic final played at Masaka Recreations Grounds in front of a high-spirited crowd.
Joel Madondo and Ken Kasozi were each on target for Jinja and Kitende respectively in the second half.
Madondo, Kalyoowa, Kirya and Zziwa converted their efforts while Bashir Asiku and Karim Wambulwa failed at their spot kick attempts as Jinja were crown the 2017 Copa Coca-Cola national post-primary schools Champions.
Earlier on, 2016 champions of Kibuli SSS pipped Nakaseke International college by 1-0 in the third place playoff to win the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, St. Julian’s Abdallah Senyonga picked the top scorers' accolade having scored 17 goals in the tournament while Ivan Wani of Jinja SSS was voted as the MVP (Most Valuable Player).
