Express paint Sadolin into relegation as URA dent Bright Star’s survival chances

It was a moment of commiserations yesterday as Express Football Club beat Sadolin Paints FC by 1-0 at the Nelson Mandela National stadium, Namboole, to send Sadolin Paints FC into relegation.

Mahad Kakooza’s early 5th-minute strike gave the visitors a lead that turned out to be the match-winner against a home side in a season of mixed results for Sadolin, most being losses and draws that saw the sacking of Coaches Simon Kirumira and Abdul Samandu Musafiri.

The Jinja-based Painters did not survive the relegation knife as they were sent to the FUFA Big league.

Away to the Mehta stadium in Lugazi, Bokota Labama Kaman scored the only goal of the game (in the 43rd minute) as four-time league champions URA FC dented Bright Stars  FC’s relegation survival chances as the season takes its final bend.

The defeat left Bright Stars just two points out of the drop zone in 12th place on the league table and will require a victory in their final game against JMC Hippos to ensure survival.

Elsewhere, Francis Olaki scored almost a quarter an hour to full time as Soana FC condemned Bul FC to a 1-0 defeat in a game played at Kavumba Recreation Stadium while the tie between Police FC and already relegated side JMC Hippos was abandoned in the 65th minute. At the time, the Cops had been awarded a penalty while JMC were leading by 1-0.

In Arua, league debutants Onduparaka FC maintained their unbeaten home run with a 3-2 victory over The Saints at the Bet Way Green Light Stadium. Rashid Toha who scored a double against Express FC was on target as well as skipper Muhammed Shaban as he extended his league tally to 14 goals while Living Kabon scored the winner for the Caterpillars.

On the other hand, the visitors scored through Gerald Bagoole and Joseph Othieno.
