Uganda’s national netball team, the She Cranes are headed for Zambia for the African Netball Championship.
After over a month-long training in preparation for the black continent’s most prestigious netball tournament, the team was flagged off on Wednesday to head for Lusaka, Zambia.
The 5-day competition that will also double as the 2019 World Cup qualifiers kicks off on Monday 13th to 18th August 2018.
Speaking to the media, team captain Peace Proscovia expressed her confidence in the team to get the job done while in Zambia.
“To the best of my knowledge, I believe the team is well prepared because they have been in camp for a long time coupled with several friendly matches that we played,” Proscovia told the press, as quoted by Kawowo Sports.
“We are really well prepared for the tournament. I know this is a team that is determined, a team that has a strong belief that they can always make this county proud… What I can say (is) we going to play our hearts out,” she added.
Peace Proscovia (GS), Rachael Nanyonga (GA), Ruth Meme (WA), Halima Nakacwa (C), Sylvia Nanyonga (WD), Lillian Ajio (GD) and Stella Nanfuka (GD) are some of the old guards on the 12-women team.
The others include Joan Nampungu, Muhayimina Namuwaya, Betty Kizza, Stella Oyera and Mary Nuba Kalee.
