Zenit St Petersburg appoint Robert Mancini as new manager

Russia’s Zenit St Petersburg have appointed former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini as their new manager on a three-year contract.

The 52-year-old Italian international replaces Mircea Lucescu who was fired last week after only one season in charge of the Russian giants.

Zenit finished third in the Russian Premier League, a position that saw them miss out on next season’s UEFA Champions League.

The former Inter Milan gaffer (left in 2016), who won the Premier League with Man City in 2012 has option of extending his contract with a further two years.
