Leicester City helicopter victims named

In the later hours of Saturday evening, British football fans and the sports fraternity world over we sent in sorrow upon learning of a helicopter crash just outside the King Power Stadium, home to Leicester City Football Club.

The incident happened just moments after Leicester City had shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Among the five people on board of the helicopter was Leicester City own and Thai billionaire Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha. Vichai owned the helicopter that crashed at the stadium parking lot.

All the five were yesterday night confirmed dead in a statement released by the Premier League club.

According to BBC News, “Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, two members of his staff, the pilot and a passenger were killed when the aircraft spiralled out of control and crashed in a fireball on Saturday.”

“It had just cleared the King Power Stadium when it came down at about 20:30 BST,” the statement reads further.

Leicestershire Police said it believed the dead to be:

  • Thai billionaire Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha
  • Two members of his staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare
  • Pilot Eric Swaffer and his partner Izabela Roza Lechowicz

Since the incident, fans and sympathizers have paid tribute to the Leicester City owner and those involved in the incident with thousands of bouquets and scarves that have been left outside the ground.
