Visa issues have forced Alexis Sanchez to miss the start of Manchester United’s United States tour this summer.
The 29-year-old former Barcelona and Arsenal forward failed to get a Visa to the US. According to BBC Sport, the Chilean striker “accepted a 16-month suspended jail sentence in February for tax fraud in Spain.”
Sanchez’s visa denial was based on the United States law that prohibits a person found guilty of fraud to be granted a visa to enter the country.
However, “there is a waiver scheme and it is understood Sanchez is working with his lawyers in an effort to be granted access to the United States,” writes BBC Sport.
Jose Mourinho’s side is scheduled to play friendlies against Major League Soccer side San Jose Earthquakes, AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid, with the last three being part of the annual International Champions Cup tournament.
