Twelve dropped as coach Basena trims Uganda Cranes squad

At least twelve players have been dropped as interim coach Moses Basena trims the Uganda Cranes squad that will be continuing with preparations to face off with Ghana in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The twelve players were part of the winning side as Uganda Cranes beat a Northern Region select side by 2-0 on Saturday 30th September in Lira. KCCA Football Club striker Derrick Nsibambi was on target twice as the Cranes won their regional tour match.

Among those dropped in Kirinya Jinja SS young goalie Tom Ikara who suffered a shoulder injury on the day as well as midfielder Paul Mucureezi, Moses Waiswa, Shafik Kagimu, Milton Karisa and Tadeo Lwanga among others.

Meanwhile, the Cranes kicked of their residential training at Namboole stadium on Sunday evening.

Full list of players dropped: Tom Ikara (G.K), Paul Mucureezi, Moses Waiswa, David Owori, Fred Okot, Dan Bilikwalira, Tadeo Lwanga, Ibrahim Kayiwa, Emmanuel Kalyowa, Albert Mugisha, Milton Karisa, Shafiq Kagimu.

Players retained: Benjamin Ochan, Ismail Watenga, Nico Wadada, Denis Iguma, Savio Kabugo, Bernard Muwanga, Isaac Muleme, Timothy Awanyi, Ivan Ntege, Tom Masiko, Muzamir Mutyaba, Tom Masiko, Derrick Nsibambi and Nelson Senkatuka.
