Uganda vs Cape Verde, Cranes squad named—2019 AFCON Qualifiers

On Saturday 17th November, Uganda Cranes will host Cape Verde at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole for the Group L 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier on Match day 5.

For that matter therefore, the national team head coach Sebastien Desabre has named his squad for the highly anticipated clash between the two sides, and Uganda’s last home game of the qualification campaign.

According to the FUFA Spokesperson Ahmed Hussein, “the nonresidential training programme will start on 9th November with 14 local based players at Lugogo. The 16 foreign based players summoned will join camp as per FIFA stipulated international break rules.”

After facing the Blue Sharks, a tie in which they need just a point to earn their slot at the finals that will be played in Cameroon mid-way next year, the Cranes will then travel to West Africa where they will play the Super Eagles of Nigeria in an international friendly at Asaba Stadium.

Uganda beat Cape Verde on match day one of the qualification tournament by 1-0 thanks to Geoffrey Ssrenkuma’s strike.

Uganda is currently top of Group L with 10 points, Tanzania second with 5 points, Cape Verde third with 4 points and Lesotho at bottom with just two points.
