Uganda Cranes player maker Farouk Miya scored twice to inspire Uganda to a 2-0 victory against Lesotho in the Group L return leg of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
In a game played at the Setsoto Stadium in Lesotho, the former Vipers SC and Standard Liege attacking midfielder scored sensational strike from outside the area to give the visitors a lead.
As Uganda continued to dominate the game, Miya stepped up for a resultant free kick just outside the area on the right flank that he struck into the net in the 35th minute to make it 2-0, a lead they held onto until half time and eventually to full time.
Coach Sebastien Desabre made several changes to his starting lineup from the one that started the home at Namboole over the weekend. Murushid Juuko moved back into the team after serving a one-match ban while Allan Kateregga and Patrick Kaddu also started the game.
The result implies that the Cranes consolidate their lead at the top of Group L with 10points from four games, unbeaten and are yet to concede a goal but have scored 6 in the campaign.
Uganda will return to action in the same campaign when they host Cape Verde mid-way next month, around November 16th at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
The Cranes, while still under the tutelage of Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic beat Cape Verde by 1-0 in the opening game of the Qualifiers.
In the other result of the group, Tanzania beat Cape Verde by 2-0 at home.
