Uganda Cranes will play the Lions of Teranga from Senegal in an international friendly tie prior to the kickoff of the 2019 African Cup on Nations Qualifiers.
The buildup match between the two sides will be played on 6th June 2017 in Senegal’s capital Dakar just a few days to the Cranes clash against Cape Verde in the opening match of Group L.
“It will be a good test for our players before taking on Cape Verde. We know the value of such matches before playing competitive games where points are at stake. We are very grateful of the Senegal Football Federation,” reads a confirmation statement from the FUFA spokesperson Ahmed Hussein as quoted on the federation’s website.
The last fixture played between Africa’s No. 2 (Senegal) and No. 15 (Uganda) as of the latest FIFA rankings ended in the former’s favour as they won by 1-0 in 2013 at Stade Leopold Senghor during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier playoff.
Uganda are in Pool L of the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers along with Cape Verde, Tanzania, and Lesotho while Senegal are in Pool A with Equatorial Guinea, Sudan, and Madagascar/ Sao Tome
The qualifiers are scheduled to start between 5th—13th June 2017.
