Uganda play Egypt in a must win fixture, this Saturday 9pm (CAT) and majority Ugandans will be waiting in anguish hoping for a first win at the Afcon finals for the national side.
While all eyes are on Uganda Cranes, the side that won the Team of the year accolade at the recent glo CAF awards hosted in Nigeria, the Mamelodi Sundowns and Uganda cranes goalkeeper Denis Onyango (pictured) believes Senegal are the team to watch out for at this year's Afcon.
He told supersport.com in an exclusive interview: “So far for me I think that Senegal has the ability to win the Afcon 2017 trophy because they have quality players and play to their strengths.
“They have already qualified for the quarterfinals with two wins out of two games and as you can see, there is no other team that has qualified for the last eight.”
Onyango pointed out the quality and effectiveness of players like Sadio Mane, Cheikhou Kouyate and Keita Balde Diao as being very significant in Senegal’s upsurge at Africa’s premier football show.
Senegal are ranked number one in Africa on the current Fifa rankings and 33rd in the world and will look to begin the year on a high before the world cup qualifiers.
