SC Villa pip Nyamityobora FC for season maiden win under new charges

16-time league champions Sports Club Villa pipped Nyamityobora Football Club by 1-0 to register their maiden win of the season on matchday 9 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (UPL) season.

Bashir Mutanda’s first half penalty in the 20th minute was enough to secure maximum points for the Jogoos under the charges of new head coach Douglas Bamweyana at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Earlier on in the week, the Nsambya based club who host their home games from Mandela National Stadium, Namboole named the former Makerere Univesity football team and Express FC boss as lead tactician following the resignation of Moses Basena who managed only four draws and denting four losses in 8 fixtures.

Nyamityobora FC were also under a new command with newly appointed coach Asaph Mwebaze on the touchline. The Abanyakare had their efforts for an equalizer wasted while the Jogoos also squandered their opportunities to double the lead before the game ended 1-0.

The result takes Villa to 7 points, climbing up to 11th place on the 16-team log while Nyamityobora remains bottom with just 4 points.
