At the glamorous St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, Uganda Premier League reigning champions and home side, Vipers Spots Club edged newly promoted side Nyamityobora FC by 1-0 on Saturday evening.
An 11th minute strike from last season’s top scorer and goal poacher Dan Sserunkuma was enough to secure maxim points for Javier Martinez’s side as the striker opened up his account for the 2018/19 season.
The victory saw them reclaim their spot at the top of the UPL table with maximum points from three games.
Elsewhere, Sports Club Villa settled for a goalless draw when they made a trip to the Champions Stadium in Mwererwe against coach Fred Kajoba’s Bright Stars Football Club as both sides fired blanks.
Away to the Kavumba Recreation Grounds in Wakiso, a goal in each half from Orit Ibrahim and Makueth Wol respectively saw Mbarara City Football Club register their second victory of the season at the expense of Maroons Football Club.
Orit scored just a minute after the hour mark to give the Ankole Lions the lead while an 85th minute goal sealed the victory for coach Livingstone Mbabazi’s men as George ‘Best’ Nsimbe and his assistant David Obua continue to wait for their first point of the season.
