Kenyan Athlete And Former 400m Hurdles World Champion Dies At 28

Kenyan athlete and former 400m hurdles world champion, Nicholas Bett dies at the age of 28.

Bett was on Wednesday involved in a car accident in Nandi, North West Kenya, shortly after he had returned from the Africa Championships in Nigeria. The hurdler perished when the car he was driving veered off the road and landed in a ditch at Sachoi.

His demise was confirmed by Athletics Kenya on Twitter while Kenyan sports minister Rashid Echesa also tweeted his condolences to the Bett family.

Bett wrote his name in the history books when he became the first Kenyan to win a world gold at a distance of 400m in 2015 in China.
